Carlos P. Garcia (November 4, 1896 – June 14, 1971), was a Filipino teacher, poet, orator, lawyer, public official, political economist, guerrilla and Commonwealth military leader who was the eighth President of the Philippines from 1957 to 1961. He was a lawyer by profession and started his political career as a representative of Boholin the House of Representatives and served as a Senatorfrom 1945 to 1953. He previously served as the fourth Vice President from 1953 to 1957 before becoming a President.
